Talks ticket holder info

This information is for full day altar room talks ticket holders only. It should have been emailed to you ahead of the day, via your ticketing platform via email, but we are including it here as well, for reference.

Thank you so much for joining us at the inaugural Tarot Fayre next Saturday.

We can’t wait to welcome you for a magical day of tarot, oracle wisdom, creativity and community.

Ahead of the day, we wanted to send a few practical details to help everything run smoothly.

And as a new event, we hope you will forgive us if there are any teething issues.

This has been a huge project to manage and bring together, but we are so excited to welcome you!

Venue

St. Augustine’s Arts & Events Centre, Stanford Ave, Brighton BN1 6EA

Map

The venue has very limited parking, and unless you have directly prebooked, all parking there is likely to be booked up or taken already, but there is local on street parking available (paid), and some allocated on street disabled spots, and local reasonably priced car parks, as well as some free street parking within reach of the venue. Check an app to find out more: https://www.justpark.com/uk

If travelling by car, please allow plenty of time for parking.

The venue is also easily accessible by public transport. The nearest station is London Road Station (a few minutes’ walk from the venue), but you could also walk or get the bus from Brighton’s main station or Preston Park station (both around a 20 minute walk).

Arrival

Talks attendees are invited to arrive from 10.00am.

Please give your name to our welcome team on arrival, who will provide your Talks wristband.

Your wristband gives access to all talks through the day, as well as priority access to the upstairs donation-based deck creator talks should capacity become limited.

Please note: our stallholders will still be setting up at this point (the marketplace opens at 10.30am), but you are welcome to make your way to the café, where tea, coffee and food will be available to purchase.

A small number of our readers will also be available from 10.00am for early readings.

As a small welcome gift, talks attendees may choose one of our mini reading envelopes, each containing three randomly selected tarot and oracle cards, featuring artwork and card meanings created by our wonderful artists, for self-reflection purposes.

Belongings

We recommend travelling light and prefer that you keep belongings with you through the day wherever possible.

For exceptional reasons only, a locked room may be available for storage where this is not possible – (please ask at the café for access). Items are left entirely at your own risk, and we ask that valuables are not left unattended.

We are told the room will remain locked when not in use, with access provided and overseen by venue café staff (ask cafe staff for access). Please note that this is a shared storage space and may be accessed by other users during the day. While we expect this to provide a reasonably secure place to leave belongings, all items are left entirely at the owner’s risk. We strongly recommend keeping valuables with you wherever possible. If you require a higher level of security, we recommend making alternative arrangements for storing valuable or important items. We cannot be held responsible for any loss, theft or damage incurred if using this storage facility.

Ceremonial Blessing

For those who would like to attend, Marielle, a Wiccan High Priestess, has kindly offered a short ceremonial blessing in the Altar Room from 10.10am–10.25am to celebrate the opening of Brighton’s inaugural Tarot Fayre and offer blessings for the day ahead, the event, and everyone in attendance.

Attendance is optional, and everyone is warmly welcome.

Talks

Talks begin promptly at 10.35am.

Our wonderful host, Sascha, will welcome everyone before introducing our opening speaker, Paul Hughes-Barlow.

Most talks are separated by 20-minute breaks, with one slightly longer break scheduled at 12.30pm for anyone hoping to attend every talk.

To help minimise disruption, we kindly ask that you take your seat a few minutes before each talk begins and keep mobile phones on silent through sessions.

You can view the full talks timetable here:

Tarot Collage Workshops

Joseph Stretch has kindly offered two tarot collage workshops in the café, where you can create your own tarot-inspired artwork, receive a mini one-card reading from Joe, and take your creation home afterwards.

Depending on when you read this, there may be limited spaces remaining on the following sessions:

• 11.30am–12.30pm
• 3.15pm–4.15pm

Talks Ticket holders are welcome to swap an overlapping talk for one of these workshops (subject to availability).

If you would like to book a place, please email hello@thetarotfayre.co.uk with your preferred session ASAP, and we’ll confirm your booking as soon as possible. If you have already had confirmation, you do not need to rebook.

Food and drinks purchased from the café may be enjoyed during the workshop.

Informal deck creator talks

A number of informal, donation-based talks from our deck creators will also take place in the upstairs yoga studio in the afternoon. These are designed to give additional visibility to our deck creators, and as such, these are open to all, although Talks Ticket holders will receive priority access if space becomes limited. Donations are encouraged from regular attendees, but talks attendees are not expected to make a donation.

Please note these sessions are floor seated and there is no lift, so we regret they may not be suitable for all. Shoes must be removed before entering the yoga studio.

Lunch Orders

The café will be open all day for walk up orders.

We expect most talks attendees to join four or five altar room talks, but for those who want to attend them all, we’ve arranged for the café to offer lunch pre-orders for collection at a time of your choosing, to help avoid queuing.

There is one slightly longer break scheduled at 12.30pm for 30 minutes.

Hot and cold drinks orders, and payment, will be taken at the time of collection, and a variety of drinks, and milk types (including vegan) are available.

Please complete the lunch form at the link below by midday on Thursday 16th July if you would like to pre-order, Forms submitted after this time may not be accepted.

You may alternatively order on the day.

All food served is vegetarian or vegan.

The café also will offer an on the day gluten-free option.

If you have specific dietary requirements or allergies, we recommend bringing your own lunch, which you’re very welcome to enjoy during the day, but please consume away from the café.

Garden

Weather permitting, the garden will be open to provide a space to relax between talks.

There are outdoor tables available and, weather allowing, we hope to have a gazebo set up for additional seating and shelter.

Marketplace

The Marketplace officially opens at 10.30am and can be browsed throughout the day between talks.

You’ll have the opportunity to meet our wonderful deck creators, artists, readers and independent exhibitors.

Please note that some deck creators or exhibitors may occasionally leave their tables to give talks, take breaks or explore the event themselves.

Many exhibitors accept card payments, although some may prefer cash, so bringing some cash is recommended.

Stallholder discounts for wristband holders

We are delighted to announce that a number of our lovely stallholders are offering special discounts, gifts or offers exclusive only for our full day wristband holders, such as 10% off, or a free gift when you spend a set amount. Identify these stalls by the purple round sticker on the table, and show your wristband for eligibility. Individual stallholder terms and conditions apply, ask for details.

Charity Raffle

We’ll be holding a raffle with lots of wonderful prizes throughout the day.

Proceeds will be shared between Together Co, supporting people experiencing loneliness, and Rescue Pugs With Lily, who rescue dogs from the meat trade.

Please note that raffle tickets are cash only.

This will be drawn at 4pm in the main hall or café.

Please be sure to check your ticket to see if you have won before leaving, and collect your prize before you go. Prizes uncollected may be reallocated or donated elsewhere if not collected and taken on the day.

Photography

Photography and video may be taken throughout the day for future promotion of the Tarot Fayre.

While we cannot guarantee that attendees will not appear incidentally in photographs or video footage, we will make every reasonable effort not to feature individuals prominently without consent. If you have any concerns, please speak to a member of the team on arrival or to our photographer directly.

Accessibility

The main event spaces are accessible, however please note that the upstairs yoga studio is only accessible via stairs and does not have lift access.

If you have any accessibility questions during the day, please don’t hesitate to ask a member of the organising team or venue staff, or email hello@thetarotfayre.co.ukahead of the day.

Dogs at the Tarot Fayre

Support dogs such as guide dogs are welcome, but pet dogs are not permitted as a rule to the Fayre (occasional exceptions may apply, contact the organisers in advance).

However, the venue is a dog-friendly venue and is used by other day to day businesses. We cannot guarantee that it will be dog free at all times.

A couple of our stallholders may also have calm, well behaved dogs with them, and one calm, friendly dog will be in attendance at one morning talk. If there is an issue with this, please email hello@thetarotfayre.co.uk ASAP.

On the Day

If you experience any problems, lose any property, or have any questions during the event, please speak to organisers, or a member of the venue team (e.g. at the cafe), who will be happy to help.

In the unlikely event of an emergency, please follow the instructions of venue staff.

In the event of a fire alarm, please leave via the signed fire exits.

Whilst every effort has been made to keep to the advertised programme, timings and exhibitors may occasionally be subject to change.

We hope this information helps you prepare for the day.
